The property tax record (caderneta predial) identifies the property for tax purposes. It lists the location, property tax reference (artigo matricial), characteristics, named holders and taxable property value (valor patrimonial tributário, VPT). The online version is free and valid for 12 months unless the property details change.

Authenticate and search for “Caderneta predial”. You can also follow A Minha Área → Posição Integrada → Património → Imóveis.
- 02View your property assets
Choose the consultation option and locate the relevant property or unit using the details shown.
- 03Select “Caderneta”
Open the document for the correct property and check the civil parish (freguesia), property tax reference and unit before saving it.
- 04Save every page
Download it or print to PDF. Check that the QR code and validation code are included.

Keep a legible copy and check the details
Save the complete PDF and check the location, property tax reference (artigo matricial), unit, areas and the people listed in the tax record. Note any questions or discrepancies to clarify with the relevant authorities.
If you only have a paper copy, you can photograph each page for your own reference. Check that the text is legible and no page is cropped; keep the original document.

- Photograph it in even light, without shadows or reflections.
- Include all four corners and get close enough for sharp text.
- Open each photograph and check that every detail is readable.
